BAHRAIN | Signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership between the Ombudsman for the Ministry of Interior and the Institution of the Mediator of the Kingdom of Morocco

The Ombudsman for the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Bahrain signed a memorandum of cooperation and partnership with the Mediator of the Kingdom of Morocco, on the sidelines of the two institutions’ participation in the eleventh meeting of the Board of Directors of the Ombudsman Association of Member Countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OICOA), which was held in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh.

The memorandum signed by the Independent Ombudsman Office, Her Excellency Ms. Ghada Hamid Habib, Ombudswoman, and by the Kingdom Mediator in the Kingdom of Morocco, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Benalilou, the Kingdom’s Mediator and First Vice President of the International Ombudsmen Institute (IOI).

The signing of this memorandum reflects the will of the two institutions to work towards developing fruitful cooperation that responds to their aspirations and considers their common interests. Furthermore, it is considered a frame of reference for this cooperation and the means that must be followed to achieve the goals set by both parties.

The memorandum aims to exchange information regarding complaints and grievances considered by either party within the scope of what is permitted by their internal law, organize activities to exchange experiences, skills and capacity building, exchange work visits to study and learn various experiences related to their fields of specialization.

It also aims to coordinate and support the work and positions of both parties within regional and international networks and bodies, prepare joint programs, and setting projects on topics of common interest in their field of specialization for implementation.

On this occasion, Her Excellency Ms. Ghada Hameed Habib, Ombudswoman, stated this memorandum aims to exchange training programs, gain experience, learn latest practices used by both institutions to enhance their role in serving the public, and working positively within the systems of institutions which guarantee human rights, accountability, and redress in both countries. In addition, benefiting cognitively and functionally from existing relationships with other ombudsman institutions regionally and internationally.
