FRA presents report on achievements 2014
The annual report of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) for 2014 examines fundamental rights-related developments in equality and non-discrimination; racism, xenophobia and related intolerance; Roma integration; asylum, borders, immigration and integration; information society, privacy and data protection; the rights of the child; access to justice including rights of crime victims; and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and its use by Member States. Ombudsman Hong Kong to investigate allocation of swimming lanes in public swimming pools

Dunja Mijatović takes up office as Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights
Today, April 4th 2018, Dunja Mijatović takes up the post of Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights. National of Bosnia and Herzegovina, she has been elected last January by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. She is the first woman to hold this post, succeeding Nils Muižnieks (2012-2018), Thomas Hammarberg (2006-2012) and Alvaro Gil-Robles (1999-2006).

The Ukrainian Commissioner for Human Rights carried out a visit to the Central Clinical Hospital of Kharkiv City where Yulia Tymoshenko is under treatment. “Issues of custody of women and children in places of detention will be priority in our activity in 2013”, the Commissioner said.

Ombudsman inquiry into the use of EU funds in relation to institutional care, against backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic
The Ombudsman opened an own-initiative inquiry into the role of the Commission in ensuring that member state governments use EU funds with a view to promoting independent living for persons with disabilities and older persons, and transitioning away from residential care institutions. The inquiry takes place against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, which had devastating consequences for people in these institutions.

Control Yuan welcomes FIO President and Dominican Ombudsman Pablo Ulloa for Special Address
The Control Yuan was honored to host the distinguished President of the Federación Iberoamericana del Ombudsperson (FIO) and Ombudsman of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Pablo Ulloa, along with his delegation, for a special address and visit on 18 October 2023. This visit holds significant importance, marking President Ulloa’s first return visit to Taiwan since 2017.
