A Hundred Thousand Welcomes Again''
We are pleased to announce new dates for the International Ombudsman Institute 12th World Conference and General Assembly. The conference will now take place at the original conference venue, The Grand Hotel Malahide, Dublin, from 23rd - 28th May 2021.
As President of the International Ombudsman Institute and as Ombudsman of Ireland, I would like to extend to you another “Céad Míle Fáilte” to the 12th World Conference. It was very disappointing to have to postpone the original conference and I am delighted that we have been able to re-arrange the conference and that it will take place in Dublin as originally planned.
The IOI World Conference is a great opportunity for Ombudsman Offices from around the world to meet to share their experience, expertise and knowledge. The Conference theme is “Giving Voice to the Voiceless”. The conference will feature Ombudsman offices from around the world sharing international best practice in working with groups of people who have difficulties in accessing our services, but who are often most in need of our interventions. We had prepared a rich and diverse range of topics and speakers for the original conference programme and we are confident we will be able to include most of this programme in the 2021 conference.
The General Assembly will be considering further reforms to the IOI By-Laws to make us ever more transparent, accountable and effective. I look forward to engaging with you in debate and discussion on these issues.
We expect to arrange the same itinerary of social events as we had arranged for the original conference dates. I hope this will allow you to experience the unique culture and atmosphere that defines our city.
I look forward to meeting you all in Dublin in 2021 and I am certain that you will have a memorable experience while attending the 12th IOI World Conference.
