On April 8, 2025, the Ombudsman of the Lazio Region will celebrate the 45th anniversary of civic defense in the Italian region of Lazio with an institutional event titled "45 Years of Civic Defense in Lazio: Commitment, Innovation, and Future."
This initiative represents a significant opportunity to reflect on the role and evolution of the Ombudsman, focusing on current challenges and future perspectives in the protection of citizens' rights.
Event Program:
10:30 AM – Opening Session
Institutional greetings and introductory remarks on the role of Civic Defense in the Lazio Region and at the national level.
1:00 PM – Closing of the Plenary Session
3:00 PM – Parallel Sessions:
Session I: Civic Defense Today: Challenges and Opportunities for Citizens’ Rights. A discussion on current issues and possible strategies to strengthen the protection of rights.
Session II: The Future of Civic Defense: Innovation and Institutional Dialogue. A debate on the role of technology, innovation, and collaboration with institutions to enhance the effectiveness of Civic Defense.
5:00 PM – Closing Remarks
The event will bring together experts, institutional representatives, legal professionals, and members of civil society, aiming to outline a shared path for the future of Civic Defense in Lazio. Several European Ombudsmen have already confirmed their participation.
Additionally, institutional events are being planned in the city of Rome on the afternoon of April 7 and the morning of April 9. Further details will be provided soon, but those interested in participating can request more information via email at mfardelli@regione.lazio.it.
