Aside from handling complaints by e-mail, mail, or visit, the ACRC made efforts to address complaints of the socially disadvantaged by expanding its on-site outreach program, to better listen to the voices of the disabled, foreign workers, and multicultural families in 2014.
The ACRC rapidly and fairly dealt with a total of 54 collective petitions where various complainants’ interests are at stake and complaints of huge ripple effects through its mediation system, one of the “Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).” The ACRC is promoting the enactment of the Bill on Collective Complaint Mediation that contains the adoption of specialized mediators, in order to reduce social cost caused by collective complaints and preemptively resolve conflicts.
Meanwhile, the ACRC successfully pushed for the enactment of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act. The Commission also encouraged reports on the violation of public interest that is secretive in nature by providing rigorous protection and compensations to public interest whistleblowers.
Going forward, by utilizing various functions and authority, the ACRC will make every effort to achieve its mission: protecting people’s rights from illegal or unfair administrative measures, establishing public sector and society of integrity, and enhancing people’s happiness by improving unreasonable systems and practices.
