The complainant approached Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik with the issue that Agriculture Department awarded contract to his firm for construction of road for improvement of Cane Yard. The construction work was carried out as per Public Works Department rules with clear provision that in case of cost escalation the differential would be borne the department but the Agriculture Department refused.
Taking cognizance of the grievance Ombudsman Sindh, Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik issued directives to the authorities concerned to initiate enquiry in the matter, which disclosed the discrepancy. Accordingly the Planning Officer re-examined the entire measurement book which confirmed cost differential of Rs.17,22,051 and was forwarded to the authorities to settle the dispute.
The orders of the Ombudsman Sindh were complied with by the Agriculture Department, Government of Sindh and an amount of Rs.17,22,051 had been paid to the complainant as differential amount.
