The IOI reviews another operational year and is pleased to inform its members about far-reaching developments and achievements in 2017/2018. It has been a busy year that saw the realization of many ambitious projects and the organization’s 40th anniversary.
In order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its foundation in 1978, the IOI decided to embark on a publication project of writing the history of the IOI. The book was officially launched on 30 April 2018 at the United Nations in New, which provided the IOI with an opportunity to raise awareness with UN bodies about the relevant role Ombudsman institutions play in the promotion and protection of human rights.
The IOI will continue on this path and has established a UN Working Group to look into possible ways of forging closer ties with the United Nations with a view to strengthen Ombudsman institutions and the important role they play in driving forward the UN’s human rights agenda.
We hope you will consider the following report of the IOI’s performances an interesting read, and we would like to thank the IOI Board of Directors, as well as the staff of the IOI General Secretariat for another year of good progress in achieving our goals.
The IOI Annual Report 2017/2018 is available in all three languages of the IOI and can be downloaded from this website.
