PAKISTAN | Appointment of Ms. Ayesha Hamid as the 9th Ombudsman of Punjab

The Office of the Ombudsman of Punjab is pleased to announce that Ms. Ayesha Hamid has been appointed as the 9th Ombudsman of Punjab. With an illustrious career in law and a strong commitment to public service, Ms. Hamid brings a wealth of experience and integrity to this important role.

Her extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, coupled with her passion for justice and service to society, makes Ms. Ayesha Hamid an outstanding choice for the position of Ombudsman Punjab. In this role, she will work to address the grievances of the public, ensuring fairness and accountability in government institutions and services.

Ms. Hamid’s leadership extends beyond the courtroom. She has served as an elected independent Director in a multinational company, showcasing her acumen in corporate governance. Before entering the legal profession, she also contributed to academia, teaching at a prominent institution.

In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Hamid has a longstanding commitment to pro bono work, providing free legal services to indigent clients and charitable organizations. She has represented a number of non-profit and welfare bodies, including the Punjab Girl Guides Association, offering her expertise to support causes that promote education, welfare, and social justice.

Ms. Hamid was previously the Senior Partner at Hamid Law Associates and has been practicing law with distinction. She became an Advocate of the High Court in 2008 and of the Supreme Court in 2016. Over the years, she has appeared in numerous high-profile cases of constitutional importance, several of which have been reported in law journals.

Her work has significantly contributed to the legal landscape in Pakistan, particularly in areas related to constitutional and public interest matters.
