The Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights, Mrs. Maria Stylianou-Lottides, submitted today, on January 15, 2025, to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, the Annual Report of her Office for the year 2023, as well as the individual Annual Reports detailing the work and action of the Office under the mandates of the Commissioner as the Equality Body and the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM).
During the presentation of the Reports, the Commissioner pointed out that “more than 3000 complaints had been processes in 2023 and many complaints were about local authority interference with private property, social benefits and allowance for persons with disabilities”. Also, the Commissioner noted that since 2023 her office observed EU co-funded projects and until today had looked into 126 programmes and prepared observations.
The President, receiving the Reports said “the reports submitted are a guide for us to further strengthen our effort to change Cyprus, more so when it is report on human rights”.
