TAIWAN | Control Yuan celebrates its 83rd Anniversary

The Control Yuan (CY) celebrated its 83rd anniversary on 5 February 2014. The celebration was held at the CY meeting hall and joined by current and former CY members, auditor-generals and CY advisors.

The CY was established on 2 February 1931. To commemorate its long history and traditions, a motion was passed at the CY plenary meeting in 2013 to celebrate February 2 as Control Yuan Day.

In his opening remarks, CY president, Mr Wang Chien-shien, expressed his appreciation of all the hard work done by the CY members and staff over the years to lay a solid foundation for supervision system in Taiwan and guaranteed a fairer and cleaner government.

Dr. Hu Fu, a CY advisor, academician of Academia Sinica and prominent scholar of constitutional law, presented a talk on the outlook for the supervision system of the Republic of China (ROC). In his speech, he affirmed the value of the ROC's five-power system and the importance of control power. He also urged the CY to continue developing its roles as a pillar of the ROC constitutional system, a government watchdog, and a force against corruption.
