TAIWAN | Control Yuan publishes Annual Report 2012 in English and Spanish

Control Yuan's (CY) 2012 Annual Report has been published recently. The report summarizes the CY’s work in the areas of complaint handling, enforcement of good governance, sunshine acts, auditing, human rights protection, and international exchanges.

The report also includes a new chapter summarizing CY’s investigation cases in 2012. These cases fall into three categories: preventing waste of public expenditures, ensuring ethical government and promoting human rights protection.

In 2012, the CY received 19,758 complaints from private individuals, and the investigation rate was 26%, which was 5.7% higher than in the year before. In total, 161 corrective measures were proposed against government agencies; 27 impeachment cases were proposed and 74 government officials were impeached. These numbers were the highest for all years of the CY’s
4th term.

Apart from the English version, the CY also releases the first-ever Spanish-language annual report. Both language versions are now available on the website of the Control Yuan.
