SPAIN | Cooperation needed for the development of a best practices guide on protection services for unaccompanied minors

As part of an IOI Europe investigation concerning the situation of refugees and asylum seekers, the Ombudsman for the Basque Country is currently working on the development of a guide of best practices on protection services for unaccompanied minors in Europe. This investigation was commissioned to a steering committee composed by the Ombudsman for the Basque Country, the Dutch National Ombudsman and the Greek Ombudsman. The Basque Ombudsman was entrusted with conducting the investigation related to unaccompanied minors.

In order to identify best practices in Europe, the Ombudsman for the Basque Country needs the support and cooperation of other European Ombudsman institutions. The Basque Ombudsman has prepared a questionnaire which can be answered in English, French, German, Italian or Spanish. The replies to the questionnaires will be essential in order to understand the different realities throughout Europe and identify and disseminate best practices regarding the protection of foreign unaccompanied minors.

The Basque Ombudsman kindly asks the European Ombudsman institutions to answer this questionnaire and to submit the reply to its office by 8 November 2019 at international@ararteko.eus.

The questionnaire and a letter of the Basque Ombudsman Manuel Lezertua can be found in the download list of this text.
