Europe | Discussing EU’s role towards the Sustainable Development Goals

FRA took part in the conference ‘SDGs, Climate and the Future of Europe’ on 31 May in Milan, organised by the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development.

The meeting discussed the key role that the EU can play towards advancing the 2030 agenda and will feed into a European Commission reflection paper on the subject.

The event proposed a new SDG-based narrative for Europe towards making the EU the champion of the 2030 agenda. This would seek to improve well-being in Europe and enhancing the partnership between EU Member State and non-state actors to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs.

The FRA spoke about how many of its studies include data relevant to a range of indicators under the SDGs, including inequalities and poverty. The event brought together 250 experts and stakeholders.
