The term of Ms Lucia Franchini as Ombudsman of Tuscany (Italy) ended and as a result, she also had to leave her position of one of the European Directors on the IOI Board of Directors. According to the European regional by-laws this vacant position is automatically filled by one of the Directors at the European level and Ms Ülle Madise, Chancellor of Justice of Estonia, took over the vacant seat at the IOI World Board.
This change left a position on the European regional Board vacant and the Office of Regional President and Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó held an electronic ballot in December 2017 to fill this vacancy pursuant to Article 8(d) of the European regional by-laws.
Three candidates stood for election, one of which withdrew his candidacy during the electronic ballot. In total 47 Voting members in good standing cast their vote within the given deadline. As a result of this electronic ballot, Greek Ombudsman Andreas Pottakis was elected as new member of the European Board.
The IOI General Secretariat welcomes Ms Madise to the IOI World Board and congratulates Mr Pottakis on his election to the European Board and is looking forward to a close and fruitful cooperation in the future.
