IOI | European Region holds election

On request of the IOI's European Region, the IOI General Secretariat held an electronic ballot to fill the vacant positions of the European Regional President and of one Member of the European Board.

The IOI General Secretariat and the IOI is pleased to announce that Ms Lucina Franchini (Ombudsman of Tuscany, Italy) has been elected as a Member of the European Board and that Mr Rafael Ribó (Catalan Ombudsman, Spain) has been confirmed as European Regional President.

Ms Lucia Franchini, who graduated in Italian Literature and Philosophy at Pisa University (Italy) and got a Master in Electronic Information Management at Sheffield University (UK), was a Member of the Parliament of the Tuscany Region from 2000 to 2010. She served on several Parliamentary commissions such as the Commission competent to write the Constitution of the Tuscany Region or the Health Commission. She was appointed Ombudsman of Tuscany in 2011 and currently also holds the position as the President of Coordination of Regional and Autonomous Provinces Ombudsman Institutions in Italy.

Mr Rafael Ribó studied Economics and Law at the University of Barcelona and holds a PhD in Political, Economic and Business Science from the same university as well as a Master of Arts in Political Science by the New School for Social Research of New York. Mr Ribó served as a Member of the Catalan Parliament from 1980 to 2001 and as a Member of the Spanish Parliament from 1993 to 1995. He served on the IOI Board of Directors since 2006.
