The I.O.I. in conjunction with the Office of the Ontario Ombudsman is taking an initative to promote North American I.O.I. membership and to demonstrate the value of being an I.O.I. member. In order to strengthen the regional activity and visibility the I.O.I. Board of Directors granted a regional subvention to the North American region to hold a two-day SYT training pre-conference workshop prior to the United States Ombudsman Annual (USOA) Conference in Jacksonville, Florida (October 24 and 25, 2011). The training course will be presented by Ontario Ombudsman André Marin. We record our thanks for his continued support in this way.
The I.O.I. will be covering the course fees for up to two persons per North American Institutional Member and one person per North American Associate Member. The two-day session will cover topics such as Systemic Investigations, Principle of Investigations, Whisterblowers, Witness Interviewing, Assessing Evidence, Report Writing and Traditional and Social Media.
