Australia | Inspector General of Taxation releases newsletter

The Inspecter General of Taxation released its April newsletter with information concerning ongoing reviews and news concerning the complaint handling service. Concerning the latter, the IGT is currently working on ways to increase its visibility so that all Australians are aware of the IGT's services. The IGT has also recently lodged a submission to assist the Parliament in its inquiry into the ATO's 2017 Annual Report.

On 29 March 2018, the IGT hosted a meeting of Inspectors-General from across Australia for them to share ideas on best practices and innovations that each had implemented. Concerning future events, the IGT will deliver a plenary address at the 13th International Conference on Tax Administration hosted by the University of New South Wales. He will also engage with a range of international tax scrutineers and academics at the 3rd Annual International Taxpayer Rights Conference. The IGT is also working on programs to continue its engagement with tax practitioners around the country.
