The Catalan Ombudsman explored the defining elements of the role of Ombudsmen in current democracies. The office analyzed in particular the challenges faced by the increase of powers and mandates.
The results of the analysis are documented in the "International Framework of the Ombudsman Institution". The Framework provides comprehensive information on subjects such as the regulatory sources, the areas of activity, the competencies, the relations with parliament and the international cooperation of ombudsman institutions is now available in English and Spanish on the IOI website.
