On 17 December 2019 the third International Conference on “Human rights protection in Eurasia: exchange of best practices of ombudsmen” was organized by the Russian Human Rights Commissioner Ms Tatiana Moskalkova and took place in Moscow.
The conference was attended by more than 130 heads and representatives of NHRIs from 22 States of Eurasia (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Korea, Macedonia, Mongolia, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan), President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Ms. Liliane Maury Pasquier, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Ms. Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir, representatives of the Council of Europe, UN, International Committee of the Red Cross, European ombudsman institute, ENNHRI, NGOs and academia.
The International Conference created a platform for the exchange of opinions and best practices on the following issues:

Eurasian integration processes influence on the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms

Implementation of monitoring mechanisms by national human rights institutions

Protection of the rights of migrants, refugees and stateless persons

Protection of women’s rights

Adoption of measures to prevent tortures and ill-treatment in places of detention
Ms Tatiana Moskalkova, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, spoke about topical problems of protection of human rights and freedoms in Eurasia. In her speech she paid special attention to the protection of migrants' rights, environmental security issues, as well as the protection of human rights in the context of digitalization.
