SENEGAL | International Ombudsman community mourns death of Ombudsman Cissé

It is with great sorrow that we inform our members of the passing of Maître Alioune Badara Cissé, Ombudsman of Senegal.

As Ombudsman, Mr Cissé was passionately dedicated to the fight against maladministration, the promotion and protection of human rights and the strengthening of the Office of the Médiateur de la République of Senegal.

From 2018 – 2020, Mr Cissé held the position of a Director of the IOI’s African Region. During this time, Ombudsman Cissé was a highly valued member of the IOI Board of Directors, whose wit and wisdom was greatly appreciated by his colleagues.

Mr Cissé’s passing is a great loss for the international Ombudsman community and the IOI would like to express its heartfelt condolences. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to his family and friends in these difficult times.
