IOI President Chris Field PSM had the great honour of providing a welcome address in the Opening Ceremony of the International Conference on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Institution du Médiateur du Royaume (Maroc).
The International Conference was held in the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rabat, a venue that features the most stunning expression of Moroccan architecture and which comfortably accommodated the 300 guests from around the world. Later in the day, the President was further delighted to address the Third Session of the conference on examining the Venice Principles and the United Nations Resolution on ‘The role of Ombudsman and mediator institutions in the promotion and protection of human rights, good governance and the rule of law’. This session was Chaired and moderated by the President’s wonderful friend, colleague and fellow IOI Board Director, Marc Bertrand.
The President personally expressed his sincere thanks to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God Assist him, and the Mediator of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mohamed Benalilou, for their support of the UN Resolution – support deeply valued by the President, the IOI and all Ombudsman and Mediator institutions.
“This wonderful event was not just a commemoration of the institution of the Mediator of the Kingdom of Morocco, but also a celebration of a country that places great significance upon, and provides clear support and leadership to, the importance of the role of the institutions of the Mediator and Ombudsman, both in Morocco, but also globally.
