IOI President Chris Field and IOI Vice President Europe Rob Behrens CBE were honoured to meet the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Mr Ruslan Stefanchuk, in Ukraine.
The Chairman expressed his sincere gratitude to the Ombudsmen for the constant support of Ukraine in the field of human rights, its guarantees and protection, for demonstrating personal courage in a difficult time for Ukraine.
“This is an example of professionalism and courage for the leaders of the world human rights institutions. You demonstrate your commitment to the ideals of human rights and freedom not in words, but in deeds,” the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed.
In a very warm exchange, the Chairman, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, President Field and Vice President Europe Behrens were able to discuss this vital time in Ukrainian history, and world history, for the supremacy of democracy, the rule of law, human rights and freedom. “I thank the Speaker for everything he is doing to advance and ensure these great principles in the great sovereign nation of Ukraine” said President Field.
