IOI | IOI President provides Keynote Address to the International Webinar organised by the Mediator of the Kingdom of Morocco

IOI President Chris Field PSM was honoured to provide a Keynote Address to the International Webinar, "The Proposal power of Mediators and Ombudsmen: an important mechanism to support administrative and legal reform", organised by his outstanding colleague and good friend, the Mediator of the Kingdom of Morocco.

President Field told webinar participants that:

“At the very centre of our work, is the capacity to stand between executive government and citizens, and with utter impartiality and independence, form views that support improvements to the way government serves its citizens. Ombudsman would readily accept that the power to make recommendations is a vital component of this process; it is their capacity to support administrative and legal reform for the benefit of citizens that makes their work so important. It is for this reason that I am particularly pleased that this webinar is drawing our attention and focus to an equally important concept – a Mediator’s proposal power. The proposal power is not just a critically important mechanism to support administrative and legal reform, it is, in my opinion, fundamental to creating the systemic positive change and the upholding by our institutions of the great principles of good governance, justice, human rights and the rule of law.

“I sincerely thank the Mediator of the Kingdom for organising this vital webinar, and for being so kind, as always, to seek my involvement. To all of my friends in Morocco, and to all of my exceptionally valued colleagues and friends internationally, thank you; shukran jazilan; and merci beaucoup” said President Field.
