PAKISTAN | IOI Regional Subsidy Program - Project Report of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Ombudsman

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Ombudsman received a regional subsidy by the IOI. A detailed plan of different activities was prepared for the proper utilization of this grant. In order to conduct awareness campaign successfully and to utilize the subsidy grant as per agreement, the 2nd phase of awareness campaign was arranged in the following districts:

1. District Mohmand (Newly Merged District)
2. District Orakzai (Newly Merged District)
3. District Chitral (Lower and Upper – far-flung Backward Areas)
4. Charsadda Radio Station
5. Awareness Campaign and inaugural ceremony of Regional Office, Abbottabad

District Mohmand (Newly Merged District) was selected for inaugural ceremony of the Awareness Campaign. The inaugural ceremony of Awareness Campaign was held in Government Degree College Ekkaghund, District Mohmand on 02/03/2022. Minister Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also invited for inaugural the ceremony and for launching of awareness campaign. In each and every District, the following activities were performed:

• Large size panaflexes with IOI Monogram were pasted on the wall of the College Hall both inside and outside.

• Brochures and informative materials were distributed amongst the audience.

• Speeches were delivered about the aim of the awareness campaign.

• Public was informed about the purpose of the visit as well as role and mandate of the Ombudsman Institution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

• Letters of thanks received from aggrieved persons were shared amongst the audience.

• Question / answer session was conducted.

• Many complaints on the spot were received from the public and were accordingly registered.

• At the end of the awareness session, Honour shields were presented by the Ombudsman to the Principal of the College as well as honourable guests attending the awareness campaign session.

After assignment of the project from IOI, a proper mechanism was formulated in order to utilize the funds so as to obtain maximum benefit from the campaign. Having limited financial resources, this Institution achieved maximum targets by visiting 06 far flung districts including 04 backward district of the Province. However, there are 29 districts still to be visited. The results achieved from the first session of the IOI regional subsidy project are indicated as below:
