A long-standing and valuable member from the African Region left the I.O.I. Board of Directors when Ms Amina Ouédraogo (Burkina Faso) retired from her office as Médiateur du Faso in June 2011. Ms Ouédraogo has been a very active and supportive member of the I.O.I. Board of Directors and the I.O.I. would like to take this opportunity and thank Ms Ouédraogo for the fruitful cooperation during the past years.
On 22 June 2011, the President of Faso has nominated Alima Déborah Traore as the new Ombudsperson; a graduate from the French Universites of Orléans and Haute Alsace and expert in public law and the relations between the public administration and the citizens.
As Regional Vice-President John Walters recently informed the I.O.I. General Secretariat, following a regional I.O.I. meeting during a meeting of the AOMA Executive Committee held in Addis Ababa on 14 September Ms Traore will fill the vacant position of an African Director on the Board.
The I.O.I. wishes to congratulate Ms Traore on her election and welcome her to the International Ombudsman Community. The I.O.I. is very much looking forward to a close and fruitful cooperation with newly elected Board member Traore in the near future.
