The African Region of the IOI held elections to fill the vacant positions of two African Directors on the IOI Board of Directors as well as the Regional President of IOI Africa.
In a first round of election, carried out by electronic means among IOI Voting members in good standing in October 2021, the region elected Hon. Antónia Florbela de Jesus Rocha Araújo (Ombudsman of Angola) and Hon. Florence Kajuju (Ombudsman of Kenya) as the two new African Directors on the IOI Board of Directors.
In a second round of election, carried out in November 2021, the Region elected Ombudsman Kajuju as the new Regional President of IOI Africa.
Ombudsman Florbela and Ombudsman Kajuju will join the other two African Directors, Adv. Busisiwe Mkhwebane (Public Protector of South Africa) and Hon. Caroline Sokoni (Public Protector of Zambia), who is also the Treasurer of the International Ombudsman Institute.
The IOI congratulates the newly elected Directors and Regional President and is looking forward to an active and fruitful cooperation, with a view to implement new projects and to provide services, which will be of benefit to IOI member institutions.
