IOI | New IOI Secretary General was appointed

On 1 July 2013 Dr. Günther Kräuter took office as Member of the Austrian Ombudsman Board and was appointed IOI Secretary General by the Austrian Ombudsman Board in its inaugural session.

Günther Kräuter obtained a doctorate in law from the University of Graz (Austria). After working in public administration, Günther Kräuter was a Member of the Austrian Parliament (National Council) from 1991 to 2013. As parliamentary party spokesperson of the committee on the court of audit and chairman of his parliamentary party in enquiry committees he was intensively involved in parliamentary control tasks.

Günther Kräuter follows Dr. Peter Kostelka, who was the first IOI Secretary General and responsible for the transition of the IOI Headquarters from Canada to Vienna in 2009. Dr. Kräuter is looking forward to his new function and is eager to contribute to the strengthening of independent Ombudsman institutions worldwide.
