Czech Republic | New Ombudsman

Pavel Varvarovsky was elected as the new Czech Public Defender of Rights (Ombudsman) on the 7th of September 2010. He assumed the office on Monday 13th of September.

Mr. Varvarovsky, 64, is a former judge of the Constitutional Court. His candidacy for the ombudsman was proposed by the Senate, the upper house of Parliament.
