CROATIA | New Ombudsman in office

Ms Lora Vidović is the new Ombudsman in office. On 1 March 2013 Ms Lora Vidović took over the post of the Croatian Ombudsman. Croatian Parliament voted on 15 February 2013 Ms Vidović the new parliamentary commissioner for protection and promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms for a term of eight years. She was sworn in at the National Assembly soon after the appointment.

Ms Vidović came from the post of the Head of the UNICEF Office in Croatia, before that she served as a Deputy Ombudsperson for children and has the extensive work experience with the Ministry of Foreign Affaires on human rights issues.

According to the Ombudsman’s Act the new Ombudsman shall propose candidates for her deputies to the Croatian Parliament within 30 days after the termination of a public call for applicants.
