Mr. Dieter Burgard is the new Ombudsman of Rhineland-Palatinate. He succeeded Mr. Ullrich Galle who unexpectedly resigned in April 2010 after 15 years in office.
The Landtag elected Mr Burgard who has been a member of the SPD (Social Democrtic Party) since 1985. He held a seat in the Landtag and served as his party's spokesman on petitions and criminal justice.
