On 19 February 2010 Ms. Saida Rahmouni was appointed as the new Ombudswoman of the Republic of Tunisia. She will replace former Ombudswoman Alifa Farouk, who has been nominated as ambassador to Berlin, Germany. Ms. Rahmouni, who is a former professor of sociology has longstanding experience as director of a research and training centre for woman. She has been nominated as Ombudswoman for a term of five years.
