ROMANIA | New People´s Advocate appointed

The I.O.I. congratulates the new incumbent of its Romanian member institution. On 27 September 2011, Prof. Gheorghe Iancu was appointed as the People´s Advocate of Romania for a five year term by the Romanian Parliament. 

Mr. Iancu is 59 years old and a current Ph.D. of the faculty of law at the University of Bucharest. He is the author of numerous presentations and university works in constitutional law and political institutions and in environmental law.

Amongst Prof. Iancu´s professional activities he served as Head of the Legislative Department of the Chamber of Deputies, parliamentary advisor to a parliamentary group leader, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of Romania and Deputy People´s Advocate. He follows Mr. Ioan Muraru.
