AUSTRALIA | New South Australian Ombudsman appointed

Mr Wayne Lines has recently been appointed as the South Australian Ombudsman (effective from 18 December 2014). Mr Lines is just the sixth Ombudsman appointed since the establishment of the Office of the Ombudsman in 1972. Today the office is widely known as Ombudsman SA.

Mr Lines completed a degree in law at Adelaide University in 1982 and was admitted as a legal practitioner in 1983.

For 16 years he was employed with the Crown Solicitor’s Office, undertaking a variety of work within the Civil Litigation Section. For the last six years, he was the South Australian WorkCover Ombudsman.

Ombudsman SA investigates complaints about South Australian government and local government agencies, conducts freedom of information reviews, and supports and monitors the implementation of the Information Sharing Guidelines.
