The Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania (Seimas) appointed a lawyer, a social scientist and former Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania as head of the Seimas Ombudsmen's Office for the second term of office.
Parliament members voted for the candidacy, 51 to 20 (with 9 abstentions) in a secret ballot on 19 October. A. Normantas has been acting as the Seimas Ombudsman since 2005. Normantas held the office as the head of the Seimas Ombudsmen's Office since 2013.
According to the Law on the Seimas Ombudsmen, Head of the Seimas Ombudsmen's Office shall be appointed by the Seimas concerning the submission of a nominee by the Spokesperson of the Seimas, after the nomination is deliberated about in Committees of the Parliament.
