HONG KONG | Office of the Ombudsman and RTHK collaborate again to produce drama series “Ombudsman Special II”

On 3rd April, the Ombudsman of Hong Kong, Ms. Connie Lau, announced at the launch ceremony of “Ombudsman Special II” that the drama series, jointly produced by the Office of the Ombudsman and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), will be broadcast every Tuesday as of 4th April.

Ms. Lau and the Assistant Director of Broadcasting, Ms. Chan Man-kuen, presided at the ceremony together with a number of actors and actresses who performed in the drama series. The event was held at apm shopping mall in Kwun Tong.

In her opening address, Ms. Lau said, “Apart from conducting investigations into alleged maladministration by government departments and public organisations, my Office also attaches great importance to publicising our mission and functions. Our aim is to enhance public understanding of our work through diversified publicity strategies and channels.”

“Ombudsman Special II” comprises eight 30-minute episodes based on actual complaint cases handled by the Office. The re-created cases in the drama series give the human side of the story apart from the facts involved, and show the aspirations and needs of people from different walks of life. Members of the public will appreciate how the Office discharges its functions independently, objectively and impartially using different modes of complaint handling to find out the truth.

“Ombudsman Special II” covers a wide range of topics that individuals and small and large businesses are concerned about. They include sale and purchase of property, neighbours’ relations in public housing, school social workers, immigration clearance procedures, postal services, ambulance and medical services, and environmental hygiene.

During the launch ceremony, programme trailers were shown. Actors and actresses participated in an interactive quiz and games at the event, which attracted the interest of a large number of shoppers and visitors at the venue.
