SERBIA | Ombudsman Jankovic re-elected

On 04 August 2012, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia re-elected Mr Saša Janković as Protector of Citizens (Ombudsman). Mr Janković was elected for a new five-year term with the consensus of all parliamentary parties.

Taking an oath, Mr Janković said that his re-election by consensus is a huge encouragement to the citizens of Serbia that solving problems arising from the arbitrariness in the work of public administration will become a matter of paramount national interest, the meeting point of all political parties.

Upon the re-election, Protector of Citizens swore to perform his duties responsibly, impartially and independently, in compliance with the law and the Constitution and to conscientiously work on the protection of human rights and freedoms.

During his second mandate, Mr Janković will work to further strengthen cooperation with his regional and international counterparts.
