CURAÇAO | Ombudsman of Curaçao elected as Regional President for Caribbean and Latin-America

The International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), established in 1978, is the only global organization for the cooperation of more than 200 independent Ombudsman institutions operating on a local, regional and national level from more than 100 countries worldwide. The main purpose of the IOI is to help its members protect the people against the violation of (human) rights, abuse of powers, unfair decisions and maladministration.

The Caribbean and Latin American region of the IOI, one of the six regions, elected the Ombudsman of Curaçao, Mr. Keursly Concincion, as its Regional President on June, 25th 2024. Mr. Concincion was the only candidate standing for the position. The current appointment is for four years.

Mr. Concincion has been the Ombudsman of Curaçao since 2015 and a member of the IOI World Board as Regional Director for the Caribbean and Latin American region since 2019. The Caribbean and Latin American Region consists of 30 members and has almost half a billion inhabitants.
