The Ombudsman, Maria Lúcia Amaral, and the Deputy Ombudsman, Teresa Anjinho, participated in an international workshop on "Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights", organised by the IOI and the Catalan Ombudsman, in Barcelona from 2 – 3 March 2020.
The great opportunities and challenges in the application of artificial intelligence in our daily lives must be accompanied by specialist agents control to safeguard and protect the rights of specially the most vulnerable people but globally of everyone.
With the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a starting point, this workshop aims at facilitating dialogue and meeting points between operators and large companies, public administrations, Ombudsman offices and civil society in order to get everyone together to design the human rights base on the rules that will guide us in the years to come.
