Peter Boshier, Chief Ombudsman of New Zealand, presents the office’s Quarterly Review for Autumn 2021, which is now available online.
Issue 34 of the Ombudsman’s Quarterly Review includes:
- The announcement of a comprehensive investigation into why there has been no sustained and significant improvement in some areas of treatment and conditions for prisoners;
- An OPCAT inspection at Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre, finding a centre that is well-run overall, with positive practices and respectful interactions;
- International engagement on OPCAT, Disability Rights, and a new UN Resolution sponsored by the Kingdom of Morocco;
- Case notes concerning children in care, COVID-19 wage subsidies, and submissions on Victoria University’s name change proposal.
