CANADA | Ombudsperson for Quebec Raymonde Saint-Germain named senator

The Ombudsperson for Quebec, Madam Raymonde Saint-Germain, is one of the six new independent senators whom Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recommended to the Governor General of Canada on November 2, 2016, for nomination.

Madam Saint-Germain will therefore soon leave the position of Ombudsperson which she has held since April 2006. Very involved in developing and strengthening the role of the parliamentary ombudsman, in particular on the international level, she was the president of the AOMF from 2013 to 2015.
