PAKISTAN | Ombudsperson Punjab Ms. Nabila Hakim Ali Khan Advocates for Women’s Rights at Women University Multan

In a meaningful outreach initiative, the Ombudsperson Punjab, Ms. Nabila Hakim Ali Khan, visited the Women University of Multan to promote awareness about critical legal protections for women. During a seminar held on campus, Ms. Khan discussed two essential legal frameworks designed to protect women's rights: the Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2010 and the Punjab Enforcement of Women Property Rights Act 2021. Her aim was to emphasise the importance of understanding and utilizing these laws to safeguard women’s rights.

The event gathered notable university officials, including Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Kulsoom Paratha and Registrar Professor Dr. Memoona Khan, alongside Superintendent Aneela Arshad from the Ombudsperson's office. Ms. Arshad contributed valuable insights into the process of filing complaints and the resources available to female students facing challenges, highlighting the role of the Ombudsperson’s Office as a supportive ally.

Addressing the students directly, Ms. Nabila Hakim Ali Khan encouraged them to become well-informed about their rights and to speak out against harassment or discrimination. Her words were aimed at empowering young women and fostering a campus environment where students feel safe and supported. The seminar offered an open platform for discussion, enabling students to ask questions, seek guidance, and understand the practical applications of these laws in their lives.

This gathering also fostered a sense of community among female students, reinforcing the message that they are not alone in their experiences and that support is available. The seminar thus marked a positive step toward raising awareness, empowering young women, and fostering legal literacy. The Ombudsperson’s Office extended its gratitude to Women University Multan for hosting this significant event, with hopes of future collaborations aimed at promoting women's empowerment and strengthening legal awareness among students.
