It is with a deep sadness that we have learned of the early and unexpected passing of Dr. Carlos Alberto Ferreira Pinto, former Ombudsman of the Republic of Angola, by natural cause on 2 July 2021 in Luanda.
Dr. Ferreira Pinto was a man of open mind, who was passionately dedicated to the just cause of Ombudsmanship. He proudly exercised his mission as an exemplary defender of human rights, fundamental freedoms and good governance.
On behalf of the International Ombudsman Institute, we offer our most heartfelt condolences. Our thoughts go out to his family, his friends and his colleagues, in these difficult times.
