AUSTRALIA/NORTHERN TERRITORY | Peter Shoyer becomes new Ombudsman

On 20 November 2012 Mr Peter Shoyer took office as Ombudsman for the Northern Territory in Australia. The appointment of Mr Shoyer who is replacing Ombudswoman Carolyn Richards, was recently announced by Chief Minister Terry Mills.

Mr Shoyer has long standing experience in the field of administrative law and public administration in the Northern Territory. He is an expert in independent complaint handling bodies and has a strong focus on mediated outcomes.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Laws qualification and served as Information Commissioner for the Northern Territory and acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Justice.
