Chris Field, President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and Western Australian Ombudsman, was invited to plant a memorial tree in Nyírerdő Nyírségi Erdészeti Zrt State Forest in honour of his official visit to Hungary.
“The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, Dr Ákos Kozma, has a mandate to protect the rights of future generations. In recognition of this important mandate, and on the occasion of my official visit to Hungary, it was a great honour to be invited to plant a memorial tree in Nyírerdő Nyírségi Erdészeti Zrt State Forest.
I am very grateful for the very warm hospitality provided by the officers charged with the management of this beautiful forest. They also informed me that the now sapling should go on to make a positive contribution to our environment for at least a century” said President Field.
