At its General Meeting the ICC informed participants from more than 100 NHRIs, states, NGOs, academics and independent experts about its latest achievements, financial developments and the awarding of A-Status accreditation to members institutions. The working sessions focused on relevant topics such as “Violence against women” or “NHRIs and the rights of persons with disabilities – recent developments and ways forward”.
IOI Secretary General Kräuter was pleased to participate in a side event on a human rights-based approach to the work of the Ombudsman. The session was dedicated to the presentation of a “Human Rights Manual”, which has been developed by the Office of the Northern Ireland Ombudsman in close cooperation with the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and with financial support from the IOI’s regional subsidy program.
Secretary General Kräuter was invited to speak during the event and took this opportunity to inform participants about the IOI, its work and its special focus on diverse training initiatives. He also highly valued the Northern Ireland Ombudsman’s project of a human rights-based approach and emphasized that the IOI was pleased to see that “investing in the idea of one Ombudsman office can multiply and be of benefit to the broader IOI Ombudsman community.”
