CHRAGG/IOI | project on enhancement of good governance planned

The Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance of Tanzania (CHRAGG) plans to organize a capacity building seminar on transparency, good governance and the rule of law in Tanzania. Regional Ombudsman Institutions have been receiving an alarming number of citizen’s complaints against officials of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and Local Government Authorities (LGA) that are related to maladministration.

Therefore the CHRAGG plans to develop a training seminar which aims at providing Regional Ombudsman Institution staff members with knowledge and skills on how to carry out the training of good governance principles to MDAs and LGAs officials for effective service delivery. A general objective of the project is to decrease the number of maladministration complaints and to strengthen structures of good governance, transparency and accountability.

The project will be implemented on a broader regional basis as the seminar will be opened to participants from all English-speaking African IOI member institutions (these are currently Botswana, The Gambia, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Uganda and Zambia). It will be carried out in collaboration between CHRAGG and the IOI which supports the project financially.
