Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik presented the annual report of his institution for the calendar year 2015 to Governor Sindh, which highlighted the achievements and progress of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh.
Ombudsman Malik briefed the Governor about the activities of the institution, informing him that 6,476 complaints against different provincial government agencies were received during the year 2015. After scrutiny 2,905 were admitted for regular investigation, whereas the remaining were disposed of after preliminary enquiry. The Annual Report reflected that 37 complaints were dealt under the Freedom of Information Act and 80 complaints pertained to Children Complaint Office.
Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan appreciated the efforts made by the Provincial Ombudsman in providing administrative justice to the people of Sindh, specially to the remote areas of the province without incurring financial encumbrance. He assured his support to the institution in providing prompt and inexpensive justice to the underprivileged and vulnerable segment of society. Governor observed that due to Ombudsman endeavors the incidence of mal-administration by state functionaries had been curbed considerably and substantial relief had been provided at grass root level.
