PAKISTAN | Provincial Ombudsman Sindh presents Annual Report 2012

Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik presented the Annual Report of his institution for the year 2012 to the Governor Sindh on 29th September, 2013.

Provincial Ombudsman Malik briefed the Governor about the annual performance of the institution, informing him that 5,414 applications relating to different departments including Police, Agriculture, Revenue and Education were received from January to December 2012. After initial scrutiny 2,648 were accepted for proper investigation, 523 were rejected due to various lacuna, while 1,191 were sent to the departments concerned for necessary action. Overall, relief was provided to 5,149 applicants during the period.

Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan appreciated the role of Provincial Ombudsman in providing prompt and effective relief to the general public, especially to the poor and vulnerable segments of the society and also observed that the increasing number of applications indicated awareness among the people and their confidence in the institution. It is also reflected the personal and consistent efforts of the ombudsman for ensuring justice at the grass root level.
