EUROPE | Relations between the CPT and National Preventive Mechanisms

In its 22^nd General Report the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) took a closer look at the relations of National Preventive Mechanisms (NPMs) with the CPT.

Prof. Renate Kicker, Chairwoman of the Austrian Human Rights Advisory Council, provided a short summary of the chapter which is available at the IOI website as a download.

The Human Rights Advisory Council advises the Austrian Ombudsman Board with regard to its tasks as the Austrian National Preventive Mechanism and may make suggestions with the aim to gurantee uniform actions and monitoring standards.
