On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Lazio Region Civic Defender, a major international event will be held in Rome, organized by Marino Fardelli, President of the Italian Civic Defenders, Civic Defender of the Lazio Region, and member of the European Board of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI).
The event will see the participation of numerous representatives of civic defense at national and international levels, with the goal of fostering discussions on the role of the Civic Defender in protecting rights and human dignity.
Adding further prestige to the initiative will be the general audience with Pope Francis on the morning of April 9, during which participants will be welcomed by the Holy Father. This unique occasion will provide an opportunity to reflect on the value of human dignity, a central theme in the daily activities of Civic Defenders and a topic dear to Pope Francis.
“This will be an extraordinary moment of sharing and reflection,” stated Marino Fardelli, “because the theme of dignity is at the core of our mission and the work of every Civic Defender worldwide. Engaging with Pope Francis on this topic represents a significant acknowledgment of our work and an opportunity to strengthen our commitment to defending fundamental rights.”
The meeting with the Holy Father will further enhance the Italian celebrations, emphasizing the importance of the role of civic defense and its contribution to building a fairer and more inclusive society.
Further details will be provided soon, but those interested in participating can request more information via email at mfardelli@regione.lazio.it.
